Trout, rivers and SS Shad

12After some time away from the mountains I dedicated a day of fishing to my beloved Piave. During the summer we relies entirely on the early hours of the morning. It’s still dark when I started to ford the river with a good lamp, I reached my spot when it was dawning. The water was veiled and that’s not what mountain’s spinners desire. Nevertheless, the feeling was positive. Once I arrived on the right spot, I opened my takle box and I  got a glimpse of the lure that I wished to use in those blades of currents: the SS Shad. The color of the water suggested me to choose the marron glace color that is quite similar to the livery of the barbels and Chubs that live in this stretch of the river. The choice of this Shad was determined by its setting, its swimming action, but mainly by its anti-stranding power. It may seem strange talk about anti-stranding lures in a river with stones on the bottom , but when we are searching for large fishes,we often cast our lures near submerged stumps or big boulders that stop debris and we risk to loose the baits. I didn’t want to change too much the swimming action, so I prepared two different settings : one of 1/2 oz to plumb the depth, far from the spot, behind boulders, in contact with the stone (where is possible to find dens of fishes ); the other one with the ballast of 3/8 oz to cast upstream of the currents and retrieve the lure letting it jump in contact with the bottom.I got good results quickly  , I was happy because of  the quantity and quality of fishes I catched. As trout fisherman I often do not like hooks for trout fishing mounted in texas rig or masked with the bait.A solutions that I thought wasn’t suitable with the fast attack of salmonids. The strikes that I had shown me that I was wrong: the hook comes out optimally by the shad thanks to its particular system and thanks to the softness of the rubber and, even with barb pressed, I didn’t loose any fishe. I’m glad I brought SS Shad with me letting it meet the rainbow trouts and brown trouts of my River. Once again Molix created a very powerful and versatile lure, giving me one of the most beautiful day of fishing of this season.

Tests of the new products with Mike Iaconelli

1

After the Orlando’s ICast, we took a break of a few days at Mike’s home,in New Jersey, to test some new features and spend a few hours of fishing, out of the spotlight.

These moments, lived on the water, were the inspiration for new ideas and solutions.

Mike is volcanic and full of positive energy: in a few days we developed ideas and solutions that would require much more time.An experience that has further enriched us, professionally and humanly.

Thanks to our friend Mike and, a special thanks, to his wife Becky for the passion with which they welcomed us.

Molix is passion!

Molix Jugulo FS “Fast Sinking” 42 and 52 grams

Jugulo Fast Sinking

One of the recent Molix‘s news are the two new sizes of the Jugulo FS “Fast Sinking”.

The casting jig Jugulo “FS” differs from the classic Jugulo for the weight, that in the FS model is decentralized at the rear of the bait.

This feature greatly improves the casting distances, even in windy conditions, improving the approach when you have to be the least invasive as possible so as not to disturb the activity of predators.

Comparing the weights the Jugulo FS has  a  smaller size, it increases the attractive power of the bait when predators are very selective and in used to hunt small fishes or forage fish.

It catches the attentions of predators very quickly and it stays in the strike zone of tunas and pelagic fishes for  long time. The weights distribution makes this metal jig very effective immediately, ready for high-speed retrievals just below the water surface.

The decentralised weight at the rear increases the  sinking of the bait so, if you fish vertically, it reaches more quickly the strike zone even in the presence of strong currents.

It is available in six different colours and weights as shown below.

Length:  6,5 cm – Weight: 22 g

Length:  7,8 cm – Weight: 33 g

Length:  8 cm – Weight: 42 g

Length:  9 cm – Weight: 52 g
